On Memory Principles In Press Conference Consecutive Interpreting From The Perspective Of Chunking

As globalization develops and with the improvement of Chinese internationalstatus, the press conference has been an important part in exhibiting the Chinesegovernment, and the interpreters play the key role in it. The press conferenceinterpreting requires high accuracy and a relatively longer memory process; however,the memory of human beings is limited. The research of cognitive psychology foundout that chunking would help interpreters improve their memory quality and enlargetheir memory capacity for these are the main purpose of this paper.This paper is a research on consecutive interpreting from interdisciplinaryperspective. The author borrows the research findings of chunking and mainlyanalyzesthe memory principles and their applications in press conference interpreting.The author hopes that the paper could help interpreters in their future training andpractice.
