With the acceleration of the interactions and communication between different countries and regions in the world, interpreting is now playing an indispensable role in transnational exchanges. There are several ways of oral translation, such as consecutive interpreting, sight interpreting, simultaneous interpretation, etc. Among them, consecutive interpreting(hereafter CI) holds the most important position because of its relatively higher efficiency and lower economic costs than simultaneous interpretation. As a new CI practitioner, the author has not had too much interpreting experience, all the interpreting know-how he has learned and acquired is from his teachers, relevant books, practice and interpreting experiences. Therefore, the main purpose of this thesis is to provide a reference for those students who have just got into the field of interpretation through analyzing the problems the author encountered during his interpreting practice and offering some constructive solutions to these problems. In addition, the thesis is also a very good reflection on the author’s two-year study at CFAU.Using the Interpretive Theory of Translation, this thesis gives a detailed analysis of an interpreting practice the author once engaged in based on the relevant transcripts and audio recordings to make sure the analysis is accurate and persuasive. The author will discuss whether some of complicated and redundant information in the source language could be selected and integrated in order to ensure the overall quality of interpreting could be efficiently improved. Besides the analysis, the author also gives an introduction to the preparation work before interpreting.
