The Creative industry, as a newly emerging industry, develops rapidly in the world while the world’s industrial structure keeps upgrading. The Creative economy creates about22billion dollars one day and it increases with5%annual growth rate. According to the statistics of the UNCTAD, the average annual growth rate of the import of the creative goods was3.77%and the average annual growth rate of the export was5.02%during the period of1996-2001. And from2002to2012, the two indicators raised up to7.38%and9.64%respectively. The creative economy showed the ability of resisting economic risk.Though the global demands declined dramatically and the export growth rate of the global merchandise is only1.5%during the period of global economic crisis in2008, the quarter on quarter growth rate of the export of the creative industry still achieved10%, so creative goods has become one of the fastest growing goods in the international trade and the creative industry promotes the development of the international economy. In a word, the trade of creative goods is playing a more and more important role in global trade. With the rapid development of creative goods industry, many countries also take measures to support the creative industry and to encourage the export of domestic creative goods. The governments even regard the development of the creative industry as the strategic adjustment of national economic structure and the essential step to change economic growth mode.In recent years, the creative product trade has also developed rapidly in China. The average annual growth rate of the import of the creative goods was0.85%and the average annual growth rate of the export was9.37%during the period of1996-2001. While the two indicators reached to9.99%and16.29%respectively from2002to2012. In2012, the export of China’s creative goods ranked the first in the world by accounting for31.9%of the global creative goods exports. With the rapid development of China’s economic strength and the increasing of residents’disposable income, people’s material demands will decline, while the spiritual and cultural consumption will increase and people’s consumption structure will change dramatically as well. Therefore, people’s demand for the creative goods in China will increase constantly and the creative industry in China will have great development space in the future. Compared with traditional manufactured goods, the creative goods have high added value and high economic returns, so the development of the creative industry will promote China’s economy constantly, healthily and promptly. However, the imbalanced export structure and insufficient developing strength constitute the main constraints to the development of creative industry. Thus, it’s so important to research the developing status and the existing problems of China’s creative industry for the strategic adjustment of China’s economic structure and the optimization of export structure. This thesis will analyze the development status of China’s creative industry on the basis of the quantity, the growth speed and the structure of import and export. In addition, this thesis will also discuss how the creative industry contributes to the development of economy. Lastly, this thesis will talk about the problems of China’s creative industry and put forward some suggestions on how to improve the competitive power of China’s creative industry. This thesis finally reaches the following conclusions. Firstly, China has the advantage on the export sum of creative goods and the export growth speed is higher than the world’s average level. But the export structure is lopsided. The export of art crafts and the designs occupies the largest proportion in the creative goods export, while the proportion of other creative goods are relatively too small. What’s more, the gap between export and import is so big that the amount of export is dozen times that of the amount of import. In addition, developed countries are China’s major export markets of the creative goods, so the creative goods trade between China and other developing countries has much room to develop. The export of the creative goods can promote economy, and it also plays an important role in increasing employments and transforming the industrial structure. The following factors, such as the unitary industry structure and import&export structure, the lack of innovation and insufficient demands limit the sustainable development of China’s creative industry. Hence, China should grasp the opportunity of the prosperity of the creative industry in the world to enhance innovative ability, to optimize creative industry and its export structure, to take measures to improve inhabitant’s disposable income and to upgrade inhabitant’s consumption structure. Only in this way can we improve the competitiveness of China’s creative industry fundamentally.
