| The localization industry boomed after its birth in the1980s. As an important part in localization, translation has undergone certain changes. While different views exist on the localization-translation relationship, the thesis argues that translation in localization is the intersection of localization and translation, so qualifications of professional localization translators must fulfill the requirement of both localization and translation. To support the argument, the thesis conducts a case study of Evernote, an international IT company, and proposes four qualifications:proper use of information technology, flexible choice of translation strategy, good communication and cooperation skills, and the scientific and rigorous attitude to translation. In the end, the thesis comments on the translation teaching in the Graduate School of Translation and Interpretation at BFSU and puts forwards a few suggestions. |
