Propositional Attitudes Studies In The Philosophy Of Mind

Since Russell brought propositional attitudes into philosophy and logic, theacademic study of propositional attitudes (Propositional attitude) never cease, whichcontains the philosophy of logic, semantics, philosophy of mind, etc. In thephilosophy of mind, the traditional physical, mental problems, and other issues ofconsciousness and intentionality compared to propositional attitudes related researchand not taken seriously. In daily life, the language is given importance. Verbalconversation is not only able to express thoughts, needs, and more important to beable to share their feelings and express a subject for something of the likes anddislikes and other psychological tendencies. During the conversation, we not onlyneed to understand the meaning of words talker, but also to understand the attitudeexpressed by the interviewer. Similarly, we will also show their attitude aboutsomething, or something in the conversation. In this sense, the study of propositionalattitudes cannot be ignored. Propositional attitudes and feelings about the people,precisely, a propositional attitude embodies the psychological bias.This paper takes the propositional attitude as the research object, research onrelevant problems of propositional attitudes in the philosophy of mind from theperspective of the basic meaning, through the psychological intention understandingto grasp the propositional attitude, and the propositional attitude attributions (position)process and the specific attribution are discussed.Discussion on propositional attitude status starts from mental states. People’smental state is divided into two kinds of consciousness and intentionality,propositional attitude is one of the most important forms of psychological intention,consciousness and intentionality are inseparable. The first chapter of this paper willdiscuss the relationship between the propositional attitude and intention, ofconsciousness and intentionality, so as to determine the meaning of propositionalattitude. Discussion on propositional attitude status were reflected in the propositionalattitudes on behavior of explanation or forecast and propositional attitude whether realproblems, we will be discussed in the second chapter. Propositional attitudes toexplain or forecast the action of will start from folk psychology, and discusses thetheory of defects in. The three theory from folk psychology for the problem the main difference lies in whether the propositional attitudes, follow a fixed theory to explainthe behavior. In addition to the three theories, there is the idea that the propositionalattitude has no effect on behavior of interpretation. We believe that propositionalattitude is able to explain behavior; the position is also reflected in if it’s really, thatcan find a suitable location for the propositional attitude. In the second chapter, wewill introduce two theories, with the intent of intentional realism. Study on the lastaspects of propositional attitude focuses on its explain behavior with the process andspecific attribution process, namely the people on propositional attitude of selfcognition process. In the third chapter, propositional attitude in behavior in theinterpretation of the other embodiment is in carries on the analysis from theperspective of naturalism; research will be conducted in three dimensions,respectively for the behavior dimension, neural and physiological dimension and thesocial and historical perspective. Through the study of this problem, we willunderstand the factors in explaining the behavior of propositional attitudeperformance, mode and effect. Propositional attitudes of self-ownership as asupplement propositional attitudes to explain the process, will be discussed in thesecond section, we will introduce a new theory--monitoring mechanism theory, thussolving the problem of propositional attitude of self attribution, and puts forward thesolution in view of the deficiency of the theory.
