Generally speaking,Aesthetic appreciation of literature is the unity of utilitarianand non utilitarian.On the one hand, the core provision of literary aesthetic is nonutilitarian, which is mainly embodied in the form as literary works, such as genre,structure, language and so on; On the other hand, literary aesthetic needs the help ofutilitarian to achieve,and utilitarian is reflected in the content of literary works and itsspiritual connotation.When the utilitarian of literary works and the utilitarian ofreaders’ concept are unified, and the readers are in the non utilitarian state, literaryaesthetic can be realized smoothly.Non utilitarian is a prominent feature of literatureaesthetic,but utilitarian is one of the important factors to form literatureaesthetic.And utilitarian is a part of the overall functional attributes of literary works.Thus，utilitarian performances in the link in the formation of aesthetic, and it is thefoundation of the realization of the aesthetic.In terms of general literary works,especially the realistic works, The utilitarian of content plays a fundamental role inliterary aesthetic.But for avant-grade novels,which pay more attention to the formand skills, content of the fictions seem to be neglected, or even ignored.Then,in thistype of literature, how to utilitarian play a role in literary aesthetic?Avant-grade novels arose in the mid-1980s,which are full of rebellious spirit andthe spirit of exploration. Compared to the "what to write", the avant-grade novels tendto pay more attention to "how to write", which set off an upsurge of form experiment.Apparently, the avant-grade novels one-sided emphasis on non utilitarian form,ignoring utilitarian content. But the utilitarian of content plays a key role in theoccurrence of literary aesthetic. In this logic, the avant-grade novels,which are inweightlessness,lost the original responsibility for the nation,state and society. Theavant-grade novels were reduced to “a kind of game focusing on magnificent form”,and caused the decline in social function of literature. This kind of literary form is notconsistent with the law of development of literature, also not conducive to socialpractice to play its role,so it should be abandoned by society.On the contrary, theavant-grade novels since its birth has made a big impact。The avant-grade novelsreflect the mainstream ideology and values of a particular historical period view,so also had effect on the social current thoughts.Therefore, in that sense, the avant-gradenovels not only has important influence on the history of literature, but also has theimportant meaning in the aspects of cultural history and social history.By means ofliterary aesthetic principles，this paper aims to reveal the connotation of theavant-grade novels——“have intention to the form of the flavor”， and newlyinterprets significance of the avant-grade novels that have a far-reaching influence onliterature.The paper, Analysis of the Literary Aesthetic Utilitarian Factors and nonutilitarian Factors in Avant-grade Novels, discusses the utilitarian and non utilitarianfactors in the fusion of aesthetic literature.For the present, studies on the avant-gradenovels mainly involve the following aspects,such as the research of avant-gradenovels’ narration and language form, the creative transformation of avant-gradenovels since the1990s, the avant-grade novels’ Appreciation of the ugly, theconsciousness of death in avant-grade novels, the literary trail after the avant-gradenovels an so on,but very few papers study avant-grade novels from the perspective ofUtilitarian.
