A Report On Chinese Translation Of Project Management Texts From Taiyuan Heavy Machinery Group Company

With the rapid development of economy and cooperation, there is an increasing numberof exchanges on project management between China and other countries. The projectmanagement, especially advanced technology has been introduced to China so that the projectmanagement translation becomes increasingly important. As engineering text, accuracyshould be put in the first place in the project management translation. At the same time, theoriginal texts are full of terminologies and professional knowledge. During the translationprocess, the translator needs a solid professional knowledge so that the translation can meetthe readers’demands.This paper is written based on the translation process of translating project managementtexts that belong to engineering text. The project management is not only used in theimplementation of project, but also applied to the personal management of the company. Thusthis translation activity is extremely important. During translation process, the translatorfollows the project management translation rules strictly. Due to the features of the projectmanagement, the translator uses the Skopos Theory and its three basic rules (the skopos rule,the coherence rule and the fidelity rule) are used to guide the translation. The skopos rulerequires translation to be faithful to the original text and the translation can achieve fluency.Considering the target readers are technicists, the translation should be easy to understand.The first Chapter gives introduction, aims, significance, organization and literaturereview is introduced in Chapter Two. In Chapter Three, the paper discusses task descriptionwhich includes introduction of the original texts and translation process. Chapter Four isabout the translation strategies and Chapter Five is the conclusion.
