A Report On The E-C Translation Of A Guide To The Project Management Body Of Knowledge

As a new type of occupation,project management plays a very important role in effectively completing or even exceeding setting requirements and expectations under the limited resource constraints.At present,most larger companies at home and abroad have set this new position,but professionals for management are relatively scarce.Therefore,making research on this topic is very helpful for the development of major companies.The English-Chinese translation study of engineering management texts is rare in China.Good translated material of management texts not only provide reference for management professionals,but also provide strategies and techniques for translation studies of such texts.Through the translation of such text type,not only can the translation skills of engineering English texts be explored,but also new knowledge of terminology and stylistic features in new fields can be get.This paper is based on the book "A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge ",which mainly introduces what project management is and the methods and techniques of project management.The material comes from the first and the third chapter of the book.The first chapter mainly gives the global introduction of project management;the third chapter introduces the processes of project management.Under the guidance of the three principles of Skopos Theory,this report analyzes the linguistic features of engineering management texts and puts forward some English-Chinese translation strategies and techniques on such texts.Besides,the terminology of such text has been sorted out.Hopefully,the translation results can be applied to practice,and provide some learning material for the talents in project management field in domestic companies.Also,the result of research could offer some enlightenment for the translation practice on project management.This report is divided into five chapters.The first chapter gives a brief introduction of the background,purpose and significance of this report;the second chapter describes the type of text and language features;the third chapter describes the process of translation;the fourth chapter introduces the translation guidance of Skopos Theory;the fifth chapter analyzes the specific translation strategies and techniques from three aspects: discourse,sentence and vocabulary based on three rules of Skopos Theory;the sixth chapter is the conclusion of the paper.The author summarizes the results of this report and points out the problems and deficiencies of the translation practice,and determines the direction in the future translation.
