A Report On The Translation Of Metabolic Engineering: Principles And Methodologies

Nowadays, translation of EST (English for Science and Technology) has gainedgreat importance. With its own distinct features, EST translation needs professionalstrategies during translation process. The translator should not only acquire solidknowledge of English but also the professional knowledge in specific fields of EST.Based on the translation practice material, Metabolic Engineering: principles andmethodologies（Chapter1-5）(about100thousand words), this report aims to providesome useful translation approaches for EST translation in terms of terminologies andlong sentences guided by the Skopostheorie.This report is divided into five parts. The first part mainly introduces the wholetranslation project, including the text source and requirements of the publisher. Thesecond part explains previous research on EST translation and Skopostheorie. Thethird part describes translation process and features of original text. The fourth partprovides case analysis guided by the Skopostheorie. The last part summarizes thewhole report, hoping a bright future for EST translation.
