With the advance of globalization, the importance of young people in globaldevelopment is more prominent. Their opportunities for communicating, acting andinfluencing are unprecedented. The challenges they face are unprecedented, too, fromclimate change to unemployment to multiple forms of inequalities and exclusion, inparticular for youth belonging to vulnerable or marginalized groups. Given this, the UnitedNations and governments have made many policies on youth development, which play asignificant role in the healthy development of young people. This translation report is based on the translation of the middle three chapters of thesource text UNDP Youth Strategy2014-2017, issued by UNDP on March31,2014, whichindicates that UNDP attaches great importance to youth development, as well as call oncountries to work together for youth development. UNDP’s first-ever corporate YouthStrategy,“Empowered Youth, Sustainable Future”, is about resilience, sustainable andhuman development, and effective and democratic governance. It calls on the younggenerations to become even more committed agents of change in development processes. The excerpt of the source text which has eight thousands words or so is about foreword, executive summary, introduction, youth strategy outcomes, a four-pronged approach toachieving results and monitoring and evaluation. The report is divided into five chapters. Chapter One introduces the translationproject, including project background, significance and report structure. Chapter Twospecifies the source text, including its main content and analysis.
