Language is the tool of communication among people. culture communication can’t do without language, which reflects the diversity of national cultural so the language is of great importance in the field of culture communication. Proverbs are a special way of expression, which play an important role in a nation’s cultural inheritance. Not only are they important in daily communication but also they represent the wisdom of people in a country. The proverbs of China and South Korea are come from daily life, and they are all closely corrected with life. The proverbs contain the wisdom of the nation and all have certain educational significance. Therefore, it is necessary to understand a proverb, not only just looking at the appearance of it, but also understanding the symbolism of it and the culture in tension it contains, and only through cultural in tension can we know the real meaning, and that is the specialization of a proverb. It is because the specialization of a proverb that the author choose proverbs as the abject of research. Proverbs about dragon and snaky are very common in both China and South Korea. Dragon an snake have rich symbolic meaning in both countries. Culture of dragon and snake is of deep cultural deposits. The reason why article choose dragon and snake to do the research is that dragon and snake have a profound historical origin; besides, dragon has a strong link with snake in many classic works. In ancient times, dragon was also called big snake, and snake was also called little dragon. Both snake and dragon were worshiped as totem, which stand for power and status. With the influence of Chinese cultural, dragon and snake also have a special status in South Korea, and are combined with Korean native cultural. As a result, the symbolization of them is different from that in China. This article just deal with the reason why the difference coming into being. In the meanwhile, by analyzing the different status of snake and dragon in China and Korea, we can have a better under standing of their cultures.The first chapter state the purpose, meaning and reason for the research article. The second and third chapter use examples about different proverbs of dragon and snake in China and Korea to do the comparison, and thus we can find the similarities and differences of dragon and snake in proverbs in two difference countries. The fourth chapter is the conclusion, that both similarities and differences exist in the symbolization by comparing the proverbs. Thus, explain the reason for this phenomenon is that the two countries have different cultures and make us more clear about the differences in the two sorts of culture, which is beneficial to the comparison of the two cultures.Although a number of proverbs and expressions are collected and comparison about dragon and snake has been made in this article, insufficiency still exists. More than 100 proverbs are sorted and classified as the appendix of this article, so that other scholars can make use of them and do some research in the future.
