As the development of Qing Dynasty, the "New Dynasty Monk Poets", which is a special group composed of monk poets who are the first generation of Qing Dynasty, come upon the stage instead of their predecessors. For the Qing Dynasty, they are more like companion rather than enemy. Dislike their predecessors, their worldly spirit is a reflection of their support to the new dynasty. Yuan jing, a monk poet born in western Zhejiang, can be a representative of the "New Dynasty Monk Poets".Yuan jing style oneself as Jie Shan, and he also known as Hongjiao Shangren or Wanxiang Laoren. As his whole life is in the golden age of Kang Xi, his life and works are correspondingly related to this new period. However, academic circles haven’t paid enough attention to the "New Dynasty Monk Poets" and still focus on the monk poets adherent of the former dynasty.Based on Yuan jing and Wan Yu Tang, this paper will discuss his life, socializing and works (the connotation and art style). By textual research and text comprehension, the paper will explore the living condition of the "New Dynasty Monk Poets" in the golden time of Kang Xi.The first part is about Yuan jing’s lifetime. In general, his life experience includes three key points:his effort to syncretic Confucianism with Buddhism, being invited to Peking by Kang Xi Emperor and his travel around the whole country. The second part is about Yuan jing’s socializing life. Firstly, his close contact with royalty and nobility is a sign of support for imperial power, which also a reflection of his worldly spirit. Secondly, except the royalty, he also touched with several cultural families, including the Lu’s family and Shen’s family in Pinghu, celebrities in Huating and capital. These communications promote the formation of his character and creation style.Part three is about detail research on the content and esthetic feature of Yuan Jing’s poems collection, Wan Yu Tang. Firstly, the content of his poems involve traveling and scenery, local customs and practices, history and memory, temple and relic, and so on. His poems explore a broader content area and reflect Yuan Jing’s personality. Secondly, He offered an esthetic opinion, "integrate Zen spirit with poem", which comes from his teacher. Elegant and neatly are the most important feature of his poems.
