| With the increase of international and domestic investment, most large and mediumenterprise engineering projects or technology import in China come from foreign countries,the bidding is prone to be international and its translation quality affects the biddingacceptance. During the internship, the author translated parts of civil engineering bidding.The concrete and reinforcement in civil engineering bidding in this thesis are taken asthe translation report. Firstly, the author introduces the project background and standardsset by translation company. Secondly, analyze the bidding characteristics, translationtheory, plan, quality control standards and translation ideas in translation analysis andpreparation period. Thirdly, take the civil engineering vocabularies, impersonalityproblems and the model verb-shall as case analysis. Lastly, conclude the gains during thistranslation.During case analysis, the author applies equivalence translation and specifictranslation methods to make bidding vocabularies accurate and keep them consistent withinternational vocabularies from the aspect of skopos, and explains how to deal with thespecific vocabularies; deal with impersonality by adding formal subject “it or they†orgerund, and select the passive voice etc. Model verb “shall†is a median in expressingprobability, frequency, duty and tendency, and it can express compulsion andrecommendation. The author hopes this thesis can be a reference for readers. |
