| The present research, as an empirical study on metaphors in financial and economic news, aims to explore the cognitive process of metaphors and how the contextual parameters guide the translation based on case analysis. This research is conducted out of the following considerations. Firstly, an insightful comprehension of metaphors in English financial and economic news can enrich understanding of the business world, cultivate cognitive ability and enhance language competence. Secondly, it attempts to help business language learners better comprehend the metaphors, thus improving language competence. Thirdly, large part of the previous studies do not probe into the inside mechanism of metaphor translation in business discourse. There lacks abundant and persuasive standpoints about what happened in the process of translation. On one hand, it aims to figure out how to perceive metaphors in financial and economic news under certain context, digging into the cognitive mechanism in it through categorizing and analyzing the examples collected; on the other hand, three translation strategies of such metaphors are proposed based on former discussions. |
