In order to improve teachers’ teaching quality in Chinese-as-foreign-language class,enrich teaching theories and practice, and promote teacher professional development, the author makes a survey of teacher language in Chinese-as-foreign-language class at primary level. Through study of teacher language in a Chinese-as-foreign-language class at primary level, the author finds some shared characteristics of teacher language and its problems, and thus makes some suggestions about the improvement of teacher language effectiveness.Language is the medium, teacher language directly determines the teaching quality and learning effectiveness. The thesis is focused on teacher language in Chinese-as-foreignlanguage class at primary level. First, three different Chinese-as-foreign-language courses at primary level were selected to be recorded: reading, writing, listening and oral courses. Then, the recorded teacher language in Chinese-as-foreign- language class is converted into text for the purpose of research. Through analysis of teacher language in the three courses, the author finds some characteristics of teacher language in Chinese-as-foreign-language class. Besides, the author also makes a study of the influence of teacher personality differences on teacher language. Last, the author gives some suggestions about enhancing teacher language effectiveness in Chinese-as-foreign-language class at primary level.Chapter one is the introduction. This part is focused on literature review, significance and objectives of the research, the theory basis and the method of this research.Chapter two presents the definition and characteristics of teacher language in Chinese-as-foreign-language class.Chapter three is the analysis structure of teacher language in Chinese-as-foreignlanguage class. The part presents two categories "the overall framework of teacher language in the class" and "interpretive language" for the research.Chapter four is the analysis of teacher language in Chinese-as-foreign-language class at primary level. Through analysis of three different courses, the author reaches a conclusion of strengths and weaknesses of teacher language in Chinese-as-foreign-language class.Chapter five is the suggestions for the effectiveness of teacher language in Chinese-asforeign-language class at primary level.
