TCFL(Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language) includes not only the language teaching but also the culture teaching. Recently, more and more people would like to know the fascinating Chinese culture. Chinese culture teaching for foreigners gets quick development, which is preferred by specialists and scholars. Besides, papers about Chinese culture teaching are increasing. The publish of textbooks about Chinese culture teaching is gradually increasing too. Textbooks play an important part in the process of teaching, which is like a belt connecting teachers and students. A good culture textbook can enhance the quality of teaching. It offers an reference for teachers, and it can interest students. In the end, the teaching objectives can be well accomplished. Though textbooks are important, some problems of textbooks about Chinese culture teaching need to be resolved.This paper chooses two authoritative and high-comment culture textbooks, one is Chinese traditional culture and modern life edited by Zhang Ying and Jin Shunian, and press of Pecking University, the other is Talking about Chinese Culture,edited by Wu Xiaolu and Cheng Zhaohui, press of Beijing Language University. Comparing the two books, I?ve found out the advantages and shortcomings and offered my advice. I hope that my suggestion will be useful to the textbook editing.This paper can be divided into several parts:Introduction. This part talks about the reasons of choosing this topic, the significance,literature review, and the subject and studying methods. The first part introduces the importance of culture teaching and textbooks. I start with the necessities and principles of culture teaching. Then I elaborate on the importance of TCFL cultural textbooks and make the preparation for the concrete contrast.The second part is the contrasts of Chinese cultures covered in two books. We can analyze the Chinese cultures that are suitably chosen or not.The third part is the contrasts of texts. From the theme, organizational forms, source and the length of articles, we can make a conclusion of the good points.The forth part are contrasts of new words. This paper mainly pays attention to the quantities of new words, forms of annotation and word editing. We can analyze the new words are suitable or not.The fifth part is contrasts of exercises of this two books. In terms of question types and numbers, we can realize they are appropriate or not.The sixth part is the problems and advice of textbooks editing of TCFL. According to the potential problems and requirements in textbooks compilation of TCFL, and the above specific comparatives, I attend to put forward my advice to the textbooks compilation.Conclusion. The last part is a conclusion of this paper and points out the shortcomings.
