| The rapid evolution of modern technology and computer systems is driving dramatic changes in the ways people perceive, interpret, and communicate information. With the progress of technology, technical translation develops into a significant tool for countries to exchange technologies. Technical translation serves as a communicative service provided in response to a very definite demand for technical information which is easily accessible(in terms of comprehensibility, clarity and speed of delivery). China has given priority to technological development since Deng Xiaoping restated “science and technology are the primary productive forces” in 1978. And the C-E technical translation seems primary for communicating ideas and problems. Catering to this purpose, this research starts with analyzing the stylistic features by using the extracted technical texts from the corpora created in CHUANSI Company, and proceeds to discuss the strategies and methods to translate these texts under the guidance of economy principle of language, the minimax principle which states that people do not want to spend more time and effort than is absolutely necessary in order to retrieve information from a text; this is especially true for technical texts such as user guides. Abiding by its linguistic and pragmatic rules, the paper concludes by abstracting specific methods of translating technical texts in the most economical way. |
