Strategies For Translating Technical Texts Into Chinese From The Perspective Of Skopostheorie

The development of science and technology has promoted global economic growth as well as the study on technical translation. This paper introduces the basic concept of Skopostheorie and the features of technical texts, so as to demonstrate the validity of Skopostheorie in technical translation. Then, it proposes translation strategies on the lexical, syntactical and textual levels from the perspective of Skopostheorie, based on the E-C translation of Beyond Borders: Web Globalization Strategies. On the lexical level, English inflections and inversion are studied in terms of translation strategies. On the syntactical level, the strategies for translating English postpositive attributes and long difficult sentences are proposed. On the textual level, the strategy of improving the textual logic by logical analysis is emphasized. By taking examples and presenting practical strategies guided by Skopostheorie, this paper aims to provide valuable references for technical translators in their practice and improve the technical translation quality on the whole.
