Tourism text is a kind of publicity text,and paying attention to efficiency is one of the purposes of tourism text translation.In terms of language style,tourism texts should make information received more efficiently and conveniently,so that readers can easily obtain destination information,enjoying the unique fascination and different customs of tourism destinations,to achieve heart resonances and tourism texts produce the best publicity effect.Although tourism text translation was started late in China,it has made remarkable achievements in recent decades,occupying an important place in the field of contemporary non-literature translation.At the same time,tourism text translation can help to tell Chinese stories,spread Chinese culture and establish Chinese images.Therefore,in the process of translating tourism texts from Chinese into English,it is a vital research topic to explore the translation strategies that are in line with the purpose of tourism texts translation.As one school of Functional Translation Theories,Skopos Theory was put forward by German translation scientist Hans J.Vermeer.He freed translation studies from the limitations of the original text-centered theory.Skopos Theory holds that translation is a purposeful and productive act based on original texts,which must be completed through negotiation.In the meanwhile,translation must follow some principles,such as,Skopos Principle,Coherence Principle and Fidelity Principle,among which Skopos Principle is the most important.Given this,this thesis,guided by the relatively advanced idea of Skopos Theory,conducts a more in-depth study of Skopos translation strategies through the translation practice of Chapter 7 of Travel Around China: Anhui,aiming to verify the feasibility of Skopos theory in guiding the tourism text translation and to provide some enlightenment for the development of this theory in China.This thesis is divided into six chapters.The first chapter is a comprehensive introduction to Travel Around China: Anhui,research background,research purpose and significance,and the structure of the thesis.Chapter two is a literature review ofSkopos Theory and tourism text translation.The third chapter is a detailed interpretation of the development process and the core connotation of Skopos Theory.The fourth chapter is a comprehensive analysis of the characteristics of tourism texts and Travel Around China: Anhui.As the most important chapter,the fifth chapter mainly explores the translation strategies of tourism texts from the aspects of Skopos Principle,Coherence Principle,and Fidelity Principle and illustrates the feasibility for Skopos Theory to guide tourism text translation.As the conclusion of the thesis,the sixth chapter mainly includes the main findings,shortcomings and future research directions.
