The thesis consists of three parts, namely, the source text of Factors Affecting Students’ Information Literacy as They Transition from High School to College, the Chinese version translated by the author and a report on the translation. The source text explores the factors affecting the high school students’ information literacy through investigating 19 high schools’ teaching situations, so as to find the solutions to solving the problems and put forward suggestions for further study. The translation of such an informative text is of significance to the translator because it helps to deepen her understanding of translation theories as well as improving her translation skills. The first part of the translation report introduces the source text and the second part Nida’s Functional Equivalence theory. The third part cites some examplesto explain how the author and translator applies the theory to her practice. The fourth part sums up what has been learnt from the practice. |
