In recent years, the intimate relationship between the mind and the physical health of individuals has become more apparent. Behavioral Science in Medicine, second edition, addresses this relationship in a comprehensive way. Behavioral medicine is an emerging interdiscipline of behavioral science and biological medicine, focusing on the relationship between disease and the behavior of patients, behavioral disorders as well as the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and recovery of behavior-related diseases.In China, behavioral medicine is affiliated to psychiatry (Subject Code:320.57), but not yet be listed as a grade-3 subject.To most people, physical and mental diseases are among the most challenging of all life stressors. Compared to developed countries in Europe and America, China has paid much less attention to psychiatric diseases. However, as the development of society, this phenomenon would be continuously changed, so people should obtain knowledge about psychiatric diseases. The translation of this book is not only to meet the requirements of the professional practice, but to provide readers and the translator himself with crucial information concerning psychiatric diseases.This report, taking the translation of the Preface and Chapter I of Behavioral Science in Medicine as an example, focuses on the problems encountered in medical text translation. Based on the analysis of the property of the medical text, the report has an illustration on the characteristics of words, sentences and passages in this regard. Through the case analysis of the text property and the translation strategy, this thesis has a multiple-angle discussion on the factors influencing the translator’s understanding and expression in the process of translation of English medical texts.
