In modern society, with the gradual rise of people’s living standards and the rapid development of science and technology, citizens have an increasing attention to their own heath issues. Consequently, their demands for medical knowledge in daily life and outdoor activities are increasing gradually. Undeniably, western countries play a leading role in the medical field, both the medical theory and the practical experience. Most of the medical literatures and masterpieces are written in English. China may learn more knowledge, draw experience and improve the medical technology by translating and introducing the foreign medical achievements. This report is based on the translation project which the author has participated in since September 2014. This project, which was entrusted by a teacher of medical specialty, is to translate a best-seller Medicine for the Outdoors, written by Paul S. Auerbach. After the Introduction part, at first, the author analyzes the stylistic features of Medicine for the Outdoors. In the following chapter, on the basis of the translation practice, the author lists some difficulties and major issues in the translation procedure, including the numerous professional vocabularies and various difficult sentence patterns. Then, the author provides solutions, such as searching on the Internet, sentence formation and careful selection of vocabulary, with several examples according to her study and own practical experience. In the final chapter, the author concludes the whole report with some features and notices for medical translation.
