Social anxiety disorder, that is social phobia which refers to the individual at the time of anxiety response interaction with others in society, which is a chronic mental illness that happens at the age of onset earlier than other anxiety disorders, and often onset in middle adulthood, and be in the long duration. Public speaking anxiety is a unique subtype of social anxiety disorder, the patients of public speaking anxiety will have anxiety or fear emotions while speaking in public, with escaping thoughts or behavior. Studies have shown that public speaking anxiety have a higher incidence of youth groups, and may cause excessive psychological and physiological responses.It can be obtained by retrieving HowNet that Chinese scholars current research related to public speaking anxiety is only29literatures, while research on the efficacy of therapy with Acceptance and commitment therapy in group counseling intervention has not been found yet. Acceptance and commitment therapy(ACT), with the "accept","focus on the process","commitment","behavior change process" to produce a stronger resilience, which is a psychological therapy based on Relational Frame Theory. As one of the third wave of behavior therapy theory, a large number of clinical studies have shown that ACT with good results. The purpose of this study was to investigate the acceptance and implementation of the intervention therapy group counseling freshman public speaking anxiety treatment factors and treatment. There are three specific goals:Firstly, this research tries to investigate the effects of ACT-based group counseling for freshman public speaking anxiety treatment; Secondly, this paper use Acceptance and commitment therapy to explore what has changed from the anxiety of public speaking anxiety patients; Thirdly, the study is to explore a set of program which supported by the ACT and study its effectiveness and feasibility.This study adopts to the method of data study, interview, experiment and questionnaire, and research tools as " Interaction Anxiousness Scale " and " Personal Report of Confidence as a Speaker". By "Interaction Anxiousness Scale " pre-screening and structured interviews,18Wuhan University freshmen ultimately selected were randomly divided into experimental and control groups. Subjects in the experimental group had access to weekly group counseling sessions for8times,1to2times a week, two hours every time. According to experimental data collection and statistical analysis, the main findings can be obtained as follows:1. ACT-based group counseling can effectively reduce the level of individual public speaking anxiety., and have some long-term effects.2. ACT-based group counseling on improving effectiveness of public speaking anxiety is reflected in three areas which are individual physiology and behavior, emotion and language thinking.3. In this study, the program of ACT for freshman public speaking anxiety group counseling is feasible and effective.
