Tourism is a window through which the civilized degree of a country or a region can be reflected. Tourism is an image project and a kind of impression. Tourism translation is the media and tool to achieve its functions. If it is a bad or even wrong translation, it will bring cultural misleading and damage the image of a place. In recent years, Liangshan?s tourism market has been continually improved, attracting more and more foreign visitors. Tourism translation is playing a vital role of promoting further internationalization of Liangshan?s tourism. The quality of tourism translation has been improved a lot; however, many poor tourism translations still exist. So, it is significant to explore how to improve the quality of tourism translation.Hans. Vermeer created the foundation theory of functionalism—translation skopostheory. According to functionalism, translation is a purposeful activity, which consists of source texts(ST), source text addressers, target texts(TT), translators and target text receivers. Chinese-English tourism translation is a purposeful activity that transforms Chinese tourism text into English tourism text and it is a process in accordance with Skopos rule, coherence rule and fidelity rule. Once these rules are violated, three kinds of errors will occur, namely, Skopos errors, coherence errors and fidelity errors. Guided by skopostheorie, this paper has analyzed Chinese-English tourism translation errors in Linagshan Wetland Park. And the errors have been critically evaluated. They are caused by various reasons, such as from management and by translators.This paper points out that in order to attract and serve foreign tourists and disseminate Liangshan tourism culture, target text receivers should be taken as a starting point in Chinese-English tourism translation. Guided by propagating Liangshan tourism culture, translators should adopt corresponding strategies in translation, such as strengthening translation management, using translation techniques flexibly and improving translators? theoretical and operational level. These strategies will help Chinese-English tourism translation reach the best effect of propaganda and communication and promote the development of Liangshan tourism industry.
