This paper mainly focuses on conducting experimental study on the secondary vocational school’s hotel oral English teaching and learning under the guidance of emotional theories. Nowadays the hotel business is developing rapidly, so the specialized English for the hotel becomes more and more important. The skill of hotel oral English becomes necessary career talent for students who major in hotel management. It is of practical significance for student to master this skill. So we choose hotel English which is the advantageous subject in our school as the contents of the study.Most of the secondary vocational school’s students are weak in study. They lack motivation and confidence in studying, so they show much anxiety in studying hotel oral English. If the mode of teaching and learning is still done traditionally, it will bring students heavy pressure and burden, and make them be lack of learning interest and confidence. Therefore, the study of secondary vocational school’s hotel oral English under the guidance of emotional theory has strong practical significance.This paper studies the following problems based on emotional theories.1) How does the emotional theories guide secondary vocational school’s hotel oral English teaching and learning?2) How does the applying of emotional theory in the secondary vocational school’s hotel English teaching and learning influence the improvement of students’ oral English skill?We did a teaching and learning experiment in Changde Technical Vocational School’s Hotel English Course, which lasted 18 weeks, we hope to find out the appropriate teaching and learning mode of hotel oral English for the secondary vocational school’s students and solve their studying emotional problems and then accelerate the mastering of oral English skills. We did the oral English study systematically by the means of questionnaire, the contrast of teaching and learning experiment and interview under the guidance of emotional theories, and then analyzed the collected data with SPSS 17.0.The result of the study shows that it gets somewhere that emotional theories guide the teaching and learning practice of secondary vocational school’s hotel oral English from the three aspects of teaching materials, teachers and students. For example, it is good to create better class atmosphere; improve and coordinate the relationship between teachers and students; protect students’passion, enthusiasm, and confidence in learning and improve emotional problems if we carry out the policy of making teaching happy and choose the teaching contents connected with the hotel business and consider the secondary vocational school’s students oral English reality combined with the teaching and learning aim of oral English. The emphasis of using emotional teaching approach in hotel oral English and the adoption of situational learning, cooperating learning manner to guide students to learn oral English actively, accelerates the development of students’positive emotions and changes the secondary vocational school’s students’attitude in oral English, strengthens the studying motivation, and improves the students’cognitive ability and studying effects, so that the students with weak foundation can master the corresponding oral English skill and improve their career ability.There is too much limitation in reflecting actual teaching and learning results because of the short experiment period which lasts only a term and the narrow coverage of the samples. In order to achieve more objective results, we think it is necessary to conduct longer and wider experiment in the teaching and learning, so that we can keep improving secondary vocational schools’oral English teaching and learning.
