| With the growth of the speed and trend of globalization,the hotel industry is developing rapidly.With the increasingly frequent exchanges in trade and culture,the hotel industry is increasingly in need of professionals with professional knowledge of hotel management and a certain level of English.Hospital-related majors in secondary professional schools are set up to cultivate professional hotel talents,which is one of the main channels for conveying hotel talents.Hotel English is an important language course in the curriculum setting of hotel major,which enables students to have a certain level of foreign language application and improve the professional quality of hotel.This study based on the principle of problem oriented,first by the related literature analysis it is concluded that the present secondary vocational hotel English teaching the advantages and disadvantages,and then to students by way of field investigation with questionnaires and interviews,cognitive understanding of students of secondary vocational hotel English course,the hotel English teaching present situation,the technical secondary school students’ learning demands;To understand the teachers of this subject teaching status and teaching difficulties.Based on literature research,questionnaire survey,interview and classroom observation,the author concludes that the main problems in the teaching of "Hotel English" in secondary vocational schools are as follows: Students lack of interest and initiative in studying,the expansion of teaching content and job English is not wide,the connection between teaching methods and subject characteristics is not close,and the subject and form of teaching evaluation are single.Experiential teaching method is a teaching method that creates experiential teaching situations related to the teaching content during the teaching implementation,so that students would learn and understand knowledge through experience.According to the problems found in the survey,this study tries to adopt experiential teaching methods,and puts forward the application strategies and paths of experiential teaching methods in the teaching of Hotel English in secondary vocational schools.The application strategies include: "to improve learning interest and initiative,to experience English through exploring fun;Expand hotel English knowledge,experience English both inside and outside the classroom;Update the type of classroom teaching methods and experience English in practical exercises;Highlight the main body of the evaluation and the focus of the evaluation,from the specific rules to experience English ".The application path is mainly based on David Kolb’s experiential learning circle,creating different experiential situations and carrying out hotel English teaching from the four circular steps of "anticipating" hotel English,"analyzing" hotel English,"applying" hotel English and "expanding" hotel English.After the experiment of experiential teaching method,this study uses questionnaire and interview to understand the situation of students.The data show that students’ interest,initiative to integrate into classroom activities,familiarity and application of hotel English work requirements and matters needing attention have been improved accordingly. |
