Report On The Translation Of Chinese Culturology (Chapter18-19)

This report is concerned the translation of the Translation Chapter Eighteen to Chapter Nineteen, an important part of The Chinese Culture Study written by Qin Deqing that is valued as an important academic monograph of making a comprehensive introduction to Chinese culture.The report is composed of five parts. The first part gives a presentation to the text source and the main content of the context. The second part introduces the preparation work for author’s translation including analysis upon the features and difficult points of the text and and some functions of parallel texts which helps me greatly. The third part is used to introduce the culture translation theory hat has an instructional influence upon the translation of mine. The fourth part plays a significant role in this report which deeply explores some important translation methods applied in this work. The last part is the conclusion summarizing the experiences and deficiencies during the translation.With the theory guidance of culture translation theories, the author had comprehensively made a summary for this translation work in terms of tradition and customs of folks, historical culture, social structure, and so on, and also share some experience of the translation and some useful methods for it.
