China is embracing the world in an open gesture, and such openness not only works on economy, politics and diplomacy, but also exerts great influence on education. According to the statistics released by Chinese Ministry of Education, in 2013, about 413,900 Chinese students chose studying abroad while 356,499 foreign students came to China to pursue study. Meanwhile, as the internet becomes the most crucial medium in the global information exchange, the English websites of Chinese colleges and universities are attracting more attention in the fields of international education, exchanges and cooperation. Comparing with other Chinese colleges and universities, arts institutes are lagging behind in the construction of the English websites. Among the 7 comprehensive arts institutes of China, only Nanjing University of the Arts provides the English website. Since the communication and exchanges between domestic arts institutes and the outside world are growing increasingly, there is an urgent need for the construction of the English websites of arts institutes. This project which is responsible for the translation of the profiles of schools is the subproject of the C-E translation project of Guangxi Arts Institute. This reportrecords the whole procedures of the translation, including thepreparation and pre-analysis, translation schedule, solutions on the translation problems and post-translation conclusion. This report mainly focuses on the discussion of the solutions on some translation problems which are the processing of the source text, the translation of artterms and the translation of the culture-loadedsentences.This report shows that under the guidance of Vermeer’s Skopos theory, the translation of the profiles of universities and colleges, as a publicity-orientated material, should adhere to its purpose of publicizing the universities and colleges and give sufficient consideration to text functions and the target audience’ needs. It is expected that this can provide some valuable reference for the C-E translation of similar English websites.
