China entered WTO in 2001. As a result, an increasing number of Chinese companies set out to exploit the markets abroad and set up business relationships with foreign companies. In this situation, companies begin to realize that they have to pay more attention to their company profiles. The quality of company profile in English is crucial to a company’s image and a high-quality company profile is likely to help the company get its customers’ favor. However, the fact is not the case. Quite a number of translated texts of Chinese company profiles are much less than satisfactory. In the years of January, 2000 to April, 2014, the number of the articles on the translation of company profile can be found in CNKI is 189. However, among so many researches, very few articles are about the C-E translation of Communications Company profile. The classification of company profile concerns clothing factory, food factory, and machine factory, even electric factory. However, very few focuses on the C-E translation of three Chinese communications companies profiles(China Mobile Limited, China Unicom and China Telecom). Therefore, this thesis has the value of practical application to some extent. As a break of traditional translation ideas and an important complement to translation studies, Skopos theory is used as a theoretical framework of this thesis. In light of Skopos theory, especially the three rules of Skopos theory, this thesis attempts to make some analyses and assessments about the C-E translation of three Chinese communications companies. In order to get an objective conclusion, the author has also extracted some profiles of the famous western communications companies as parallel texts. And it can be concluded that the C-E translation of China Telecom profile is basically an adequate translation. But some problems still exist in the C-E translation of China Mobile Limited and China Unicom’s profiles.
