A Practice Report On The C-E Translation Of Baicheng Profile Column Of Baicheng Government Website From The Perspective Of Skopos Theory

With the rapid development of global informatization and the deepening of reform and opening-up to the outside word,the improvement of China's economic strength and international status indicates that China cooperates closely with other countries.Local governments have also begun to integrate global information resources for development,so government services need to be internationalized.The translation materials of this report include Baicheng's social economy,culture and other information to facilitate the exchange of information between China and foreign countries.Through the English website platform,the government image will be developed internationally,which will increase the openness of the government and the city.This is a Chinese-English translation practice report.The author uses the Baicheng Government website �Baicheng Profile� column as the translation practice report material,and combines with the case study,summarizes the translation report.Finally,the author completes the translation report.This report is guided by the skopos theory,including the skopos rule,coherent rule,and fidelity rule.Under the guidance of skopos theory,this report is committed to researching effective solutions to these difficulties in translating four-character phrases,non-subject sentences and long sentences.For translating four-character words,the author uses combination of literal and liberal translation,literal translation with notes and omission.For translating non-subject sentences,the author translates them into passive voice,or into �there be� structure or adding subjects.As for Chinese long sentences,the author uses sequential translation,division and reconstruction.The author hopes that this translation report could render what trifling service the author could do for government website translation.
