Yun Shouping had multiple identities, such as an adherent of Ming dynasty, a painter and a poet.As a painter, he was famous for his flower-and-bird paintings. It is regarded that the opuses of Yun Shouping have great artistic attainment and special sentiment.In his art theories, sentiment is an important theme.His art theories especially the painting theories, are valuable. His painting practice integrated closely with poetry creation, which enriched the sentiment of his works. Including the introduction and conclusion,this thesis has six parts. The introduction focuses on Yun Shouping’s life experience.It also outlines the purpose and research methods of the study. Chapter 1 clarifies the concept of "Qing"(sentiment),which is related with the trend of Romantics in the later Ming Dynasty. Chapter 2 discribes "Qing"(sentiment) in four aspects:Wu(Nature),Yi(Subjective feeling),Jing(State of Art),Ji(Skills). Chapter 3 discusses the emotional features by his articles and poems: plaintive, pure and impassioned. Chapter 4 tries to analyze the reasons why Yun Shouping took sentiment seriously in his theories.The last part makes a summary of the sentiment in Yun Shouping’s art theories, and accounts for the influence.
