Analyze The “book” In The Oil Painting Works

Culture is the source of spirit strength for a nation, is the fundamental for a country that want to leave a good name forever in the situation there exist multicultural development in the world. The role of "book" is not only recorded history, but the most important medium of inheritance of traditional culture, and it itself is also a part of culture. In oil painting creation, regardless of whether they are the major historical themes′ representation, or surrounding normal thing in the world′s describe;Whether they are the religion′s preached or hero and gentleman′s commend, they are all the theme that closely related to national culture Books are commonplace things in people’s life, when books as the essential attribute or as the carrier of cultural information to meet the needs of creation is appearing more often than not in the paintings, the effect is not just a simple foil, or place adorn, we can get other information. Art historians had already researched into many aspects of oil painting,but for "book" as the study of the subject matter of the artists and their works are not actually so much.This paper tries to put the "book" as the breakthrough point, using the image study research methods to discuss from three aspects, they are:The book appeared in oil painting and its significance; The book of its composition, moral and social metaphor in different themes oil painting; The books position changes in the works.Analyze some portraits, still life, the religious subject matter and the revolutionary history theme paintings, to research its′ composition, echoed in the object,function,and status in the works,not listed those artists and their works whom put the "book" as the theme to create. Not only analyze the works′ form and style, but the painting itself as a starting point, to understand the social form, cultural ideological, reading habits, class consciousness, the association of art and literature in the era of creation,and people′s religious beliefs and cognitive concept, then achieve our aim that understand the artists, oil painting works and art history deeply.
