As we all know, a company’s development depends on its internal and external environments. These complicated internal and external environments make it hard for a company to make decisions. While in a company what really matters is the leader’s leadership, which exceeds organization and procedure those who have promoted the industrialization process in the past time, has become a key factor to construct core competitiveness of a company. Western scholars’ research on leadership science has evolved from trait theory phase to essentialism phase and achieved a huge leap. In order to catch up with western advanced management theory, it’s quite necessary to do such kinds of translation.Under the guide of Vermeer’s skopostherie, this thesis aims to overview questions concerned in translating informative texts cased by the translation of How do You Make Leaders More Effective as well as solutions to these questions in order to make this text acceptable and comprehensible to target readers. According to Peter Newmark’s theory in his book Approaches to Translation, there are three types of texts and they are expressive text, informative text and vocative text. This thesis belongs to the field of informative text which highlights accuracy, objectivity and normativity. Skopostherie always puts purpose in the first place during translating that’s also why it is suitable for translating this text.There are four parts in the translate report. The first chapter is an introduction of the translating task presenting the backgrounds, writing styles and language features of the original text and the theory used in the report. The second chapter is a description of the translation process including preparations, detailed translation process and after-translating summaries. The third chapter is case analysis, which is the main part of the report and the last chapter is a summary of the report providing the experience learned from the translation and the problems existed in the translation.
