Modern Design and Modern Design Education sharing a common historical background, are a product of industrialization, both of which are derived from the industrial society. The world of Modern Design and Modern Design Education has gone through nearly a century. Our Modern Design Education germinated in the late Qing Dynasty, imported in the period of the Republic of China, explored in the early period of People’s Republic of China, really practiced in the 1980 s. More importantly, our Modern Design Education thanked to the experience of western design education and advanced design concepts and teaching art method. And then, Arts and Crafts Education transformed into Modern Design Education. Modern Design Education had entered a rapid development period, but also with the adjustment of industrial structure, the new economy and international integration trend.
