Yu Fen has forty-five poems, among which there is a phenomenon worthy of attention. That is there is no work for responding or singing, while such works are filled in the Tang poetry. Yufen’s poetry mostly reflects some social reality problems from different angles, which makes his poetry can achieve considerable breadth in the reflection of reality. There are a large number of works about the frontier fortress war, accounting for a large proportion in his overall work: twelve poems in total. It can be said that Yu Fen is a poet creating more poems about the frontier fortress in late Tang Dynasty. From the current research situation, Yu Fen’s poetry has been paid so little attention that the appraisals on his poetry are mostly from the poets in the late Tang Dynasty according to the historical records, only a few appraisals listed above being for his poetry. Besides, the study about his poetry is still in a relatively blank bank for the modern people. In the history of poetry, while Yu Fen is not a authority influencing a generation of people, he has a distinct personality, with a different writing style from contemporary poets. Therefore, he not only adds a brilliant piece to the poetry history, but has a great influence on the later poets’ creation. So I choose Yu Fen’s poetry as the research object, making the whole research in order to show a panorama for his poetry and dig the value in the poetry history out of his poetry.
