Simulated Practice Report For 2013 Bloomberg New Energy Summit

Students could feel the atmosphere of conference interpreting and examine the interpretation skills learned through simulated interpreting practice. In the mean time, students could gain much interpretation experience to lay a solid foundation for the careers. The practice report is based on the 2013 Bloomberg New Energy Summit. Analyses are made from the interpretation process from the perspective of the interpretive theory to achieve the optimization of the interpretation as well as guidelines for work and study in the future.As the first systematic interpreting theory in the world, the interpretive theory of translation initiates research on the cognitive process of interpreting. Derived from the study on interpreting and the translation of international conferences, the interpretive theory holds that the aim of interpreting is to pass on meanings. It insists that interpreting is a means of communication focusing on the transmission of messages. The interpretive theory proposed a triangular model of interpreting process and the hypothesis of deverbalization.This practice report contains four parts. The first section analyzes the background, purposes and significance of the interpreting practice, then introducing structure of the report. The second part has a brief introduction of the interpretative theory. The following is the key part presenting the translation approaches and strategies used during the interpretation process on the basis of the theory. The final part summarizes the interpreting practice and clarifies the learning directions according to the difficulties in the practice.
