China Export Painting is unfamiliar among the field of China art history. As the way of study China art history, it’s necessary to study single case to study the China export painting thoroughly. One series of the portrait of George Washington copied by Chinese artists is one of the interesting cases. This paper is composed of 5 parts:the first part contains of topic and outline; the second part-The hongs and China Trade is the base of this paper and narrative the background of China trade and the portraits purchase on the base of history materials:The third part From Philadelphia to Canton studied the original portraits and copies by the hand of diaries, travelogues, biography and commercial documents, and made some assumptions; The forth part The Chinese Artists and Their Studios was extension of the third part; the fifth part illustrated one series of the portraits of George Washington copied by Chinese artists.
