The wood carving art of Dongyang and Chaozhouhave long history. It’s reached the peak in Ming andQing Dynasties and left a lot of cultural heritage for future generations, the bright light shine in the folk art full of sparking stars. It’s an important part of the folk woodcarving. The difference form between Yueqing and Fujian, It appear more plane carving. They have a common theme、content, in the decoration skills. But because of the historical development, they also have differences extent such as geographical features. There have little results on the previous research.This main research object is taking the wood caving in the period time that Ming and Qing Dynasty to 1949, and conducted the fieldwork in Dongyang and Chaozhou. I selection the classical cases such from historical, background, artistic creation, performance, process skills and content to do the research. The methods includeauxiliary observation, survey, literature, to explore the similarities and difference between caving art.Through the collection and analysis of image and text information, constantly to improve the woodcarving art creation. Through understanding the woodcarving culture let it draw people’s attention to aesthetic value of wood and go into people’s cultural life, providing the help for the modern wood collection appreciation.
