Children are the main readers of the translated works of children’s literature. Thus, translation of children’s literature should take children’s language, knowledge background and ability of understanding into consideration. What is discussed in this report is the author’s translation of The Lost Treasure of Persia(Charpter I-V). This book is about an adventure of the heroine. With exciting plot, vivid characters, concise and beautiful language, it is a very good piece of children’s literarure. Skopos theory of translation can provide a theoretical basis in choosing proper translation strategies for translating children’s literaute. Through a comparison and contrast of English and Chinese language, and based on Skopos theory, this report analyses how the translator has attempted to reproduce all those characteristics of the original in Chinese language.This report is divided into four parts. The first part introduces the task of this translation. It describes and analyses the main content of the original works, its language and style. The second part is about the process of this translation. It records the translator’s preparation, draft, revised and finalized versions in detail. The third part is the core part of this translation report. With Skopos theory as its theoretical basis, literal translation and free translation, domestication and foreignization translation as its strategies to choose, the paper discusses various transaltion examples in the translating practice on two levels: vocabulary and sentence. The fourth part is a conclusion. It is mianly about the author’s comment and theoretical conclusion.
