The Contrast Of Polite Languages Between Chinese And English In TCFL

In cross-cultural communication, because of lacking the understanding of the differences between Engl ish and Chinese politeness norms, cultural misunderstanding and cultural conflicts often happen, and it lead s to the failure of communication. Therefore, it is very important to study the different of politeness betwee n English and Chinese.Due to the globalization,Chinese is becoming essential for people around the world. Though the increasing participation of learning Chinese for Non-Chinese people, the culture diversity may l ead to Chinese misused. To solve this problem, making the cross-cultural communication become fluency a nd accuracy, politeness in cross-cultural communication comes first.This paper firstly introduces the principle of politeness in the background, literature review and the new theory at the same time, the author compared Chinese and British case of linguistic politeness, we’ll get the reasons of the difference occurring at the point of cultural factors. Then investigation combined with theory is to find the differences and causes. On this basis, studies the way on how to carry out Chinese polite language teaching effectively from teacher, Chinese learners, teaching materials. These surveys go to Chinese learners and teachers is for the purpose of defining the current situation and discovering communication failures. In the end, depending on the information above, this article gives the suggestion for improving the process of current politeness in cross-cultural communication by three direction:teaching, learning and related publishing.
