Study On The Sentence Pattern "X比YW" Oriented Towards TCFL

Making comparison is a very important way for people to recognize things.Comparison is also a category in linguistics. The sentence pattern “X比YW” inChinese comparative category presents a certain characteristic in syntax，semanticsand pragmatics. It is also an important grammar point in Teaching Chinese as aForeign Language (TCFL). There are various corresponding expressions in English,which has both similarites and differences to the Chinese sentence pattern. This thesisoffers a specific comparative study on “X比YW” and related English sentencepattern through these three planes: syntax, semantics and pragmatics; meanwhile triesto find out the similarites and differences between Chinese and English whenexpressing comparison. At the same time, finding out the difficult points of teachingand trying to work out appropriate teaching strategies by error analysis with thepurpose of advancing TCFL.This thesis contains four chapters:The first chapter is the introduction.It expounds the related study status of thisthesis and analyses the siganificance and insufficient parts of study by other scholars,meanwhile presents the views of this thesis.The second chapter is the comparison between sentence pattern “X比YW” andrelated English sentence patterns by using the theory of “Three Planes”. On the planeof syntax, it makes a comparison between Chinese and English comparative symbols,comparative items and concluding item. On the plane of semantics, it compares thesemantic relationship of Chinese comparative items with the English ones. On theplane of pragmatics, it makes a comparison of presupposition and expressive focusbetween these two languages. The third chapter is the error analysis of sentence pattern “X比YW”. Weobserve the HSK dynamic corpus to conclude the error types of comparative symbols,comparative items and concluding item, and tries to find out the reasons.The fourth chapter provides the teaching suggestions and strategies of sentencepattern “X比YW”.The last part is conclusion. It concludes the content of this thesis.
