To express the conception of "to move something into a particular place or position",we usually say "Fangl(放)”or "Ge((搁)”in Modern Chinese, "Bai((摆)”and "An((安)”are also used in some dialects, there were still a lot of different words in Ancient Chinese, all of which we call it verbs of "putting" conceptual domain. As a special category of verbs, both the diachronic and the synchronic distribution of the domain are complicated, thus it is necessary to describe and interpret the evolution of the domain. From the perspective of the conceptual domain theory, this paper pays attention to the conception elements of the verbs to distinguish the prototype words from others. It can be devided into five sections:Chapter 1 is an introduction of relevant research achievements and the research methods and corpus we will employ. Chapter 2 describes the diachronic distribution of "putting" verbs based on the analyse of systematic nature of vocabulary.Chapter 3 attempts to describe and explain the substitution procedure of "Fang((放)”for "Zhi(置)”.Chapter 4 describes the synchronic distribution of the conceptual domain in Chinese dialects on the basis of diachronic analysis. The aim of the paper is to make clear the diachronic and synchronic distribution of the conceptual domain of "putting" and the relationship between them.
