Report On The Interpreting Project For Production Management Meetings At Pirelli Tire Company

Translation is playing an important role during the development of economic and the reform of society. During the introduction of foreign-funded engineering project, translation (including interpreting and written translation) is absolutely necessary, and at the same time, the quality of translation influences the process of the project.This project is based on the author’s experience in PRC workshop in Pirelli as an interpreter. This project focuses on the difficulty that the author had through work, for example, the difficulty of mastering engineering technology professional English which is unfamiliar, the particularity of sentence pattern of engineering English which is often simple sentence, the barriers which was brought about by the accent of foreign workers, the scattered theme of liaison Interpreting, and the cultural difference.This project addresses series solutions to the difficulty above, for example, creating glossary of engineering English to accumulate the related vocabulary, improving English listening by studying phonetic change, and the accent of foreign courtiers, strengthening the short-term memory, doing prediction in interpretation and enhancing the cross-cultural awareness.This report on the basis of previous studies, based on the author’s practical experience, puts forward the ways and methods of strengthening the interpreting ability of engineering project, which has certain significance in interpretation teaching and practice.
