At the beginning of the 21st century, Yoon Suk-ho, the South Korean TV drama director,: is famous for the season-themed tetralogy Endless Love in Asia. The first and second installment of it, Autumn Fairy Tale and Winter Sonata, are considered as the pioneers in Korean melodramatic series, launching a fever that is commonly referred to as Korean Wave, or "hallyu". Besides, the two TV dramas have opened an aesthetic and prosperous era for Korean dramas. As an important force of Korean wave, the romantic teleplay is the: main drama genre to export overseas. With a high profit, romantic dramas that have a relatively small cultural discount rate, can attract considerable public attention and seldom relate to sensitive topics, are easy to export at a low production cost. The makers of Korean dramas produce and export romantic dramas according to the market demands, which has brought a wide range of influence in Asia. Korean romantic dramas not only spread the Korean culture, but also promote its economy. Korean romantic dramas, packaging the traditional cultural kernel with the modern audio-visual technology, greatly satisfy the female audience’s desire. China and South Korea both belong to the Confucian culture system whose intrinsic nature is ethics. Chinese audience can easily understand and accept Korean romantic dramas. Thus, it is meaningful for us to research and learn from them. As the saying goes, foreign stones may serve to polish domestic jade.Taking the fairy-tale style of Yoon Suk-ho’s romantic dramas as the breakthrough point, this paper analyses Yoon Suk-ho’s romantic dramas on content and form. This paper consists of three chapters. The first chapter mainly discusses the pure-love-type them expression of his romantic dramas. The second chapter studies the fairy-tale-type narrative strategies. The third chapter puts emphases on the fantastic audio-visual presentation.Based on careful observation of his works and combined with the latest development in Chinese and Korean romantic dramas, this paper makes the most of comprehensively theoretical knowledge such as:Filmology, Aesthetics, Literature, Psychology, Communications, Journalism, Sociology, Anthropology, etc., to do a research on Yoon ’Suk-ho’s romantic dramas.
