Correlation Study On College Students’ Leisure Boredom, Sensation Seeking And Internet Dependence

The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between leisure boredom, sensation seeking and the internet independence. The researchers adopted the survey method. The scales of leisure boredom scale, wang’s sensation seeking scale and the internet addicted scale were used. A total of 591 undergraduate students from the universities of Fuzhou were surveyed. The main conclusions are:(1)The leisure boredom scale has good consistency reliability and a factor structure consistent with the theory, include 4 factors of monotony, negative experience, disengagement and the challenge.(2)The level of the leisure boredom was significangtly lower than the theoretic midvalue 3. Male’s leisure boredom were significantly higher than female’s, Senior’s leisure boredom was significantly higher than freshman and sophomore, liberal arts students’leisure boredom was significantly higher than science’s; Male’s sensation seeking were significantly higher than female’s, freshman’s sensation seeking was significantly higher than the other three grades, there is no significant difference between the majors on the sensation seeking; the male’s internet dependence were significantly higher than femal, there was no significant difference in grades and majors on internet dependence.(3)There is a significant positive correlation between sensation seeking, leisure boredom and internet dependence.(4)TAS, DIS and the BS have significant positive predictive effect on the leisure boredom; TAS, ES, BS, monotony, negative experience, disengagement and the challenge have significant positive predictive effect on the internet dependence.(5)There have significant mediating effect of between leisure boring in sensation seeking and Internet Dependence.
