A Translation Project Report On Foundations Of Aesthetics:a Synopsis

The paper is a Chinese-English translation report. The work selected is Foundations of Aesthetics:A Synopsis written by Ye Lang, a professor from Peking University. The work is a summarization and conclusion on Ye Lang’s almost 50 years of aesthetic research. The report is composed of four chapters:the first chapter is an introduction to the project background, objective and significance, and the structure of the report; the second chapter is about the research background, including the theoretical basis, text introduction; the third chapter is the main part of this report which aims to introduce the project from translation process, translation difficulties and methods and other respects; the last chapter is a conclusion on the experience and lessons the author learned from this project and other related problems remaining to be solved. During the translation process, the author mainly takes the hermeneutic translation theory as the guidance theory, illustrates the work on the basis of understanding and adopts many translation methods such as combination, omission, sequence adjustment, etc.
