Ecological Ethics In Beliefs Of Badai In Miao Minority Of Xiangxi

Based on the original religious belief of Animism, the belief in Badai has exerted a key role in daily life of Xiangxi Miao People. It has embraced the spirit of series of ecological ideas including the idea of identity of object and self and the idea of similar ancestor, which subsequently influences and regulates the ecological behavior of Xiangxi Miao People to some extent, thus urges the shaping of ecological relationship between Xiangxi Miao People and the Nature. Through analyzing features of the belief in Badai, it is noticed that the characteristics of multiple immortal being system, the flexibility of ritual forms and the utilitarian purpose has special meanings in the harmonious relationship between people and nature. Its valuable ecological idea has highly coherence with modern harmony thought. Hence, the proper study and development on the belief in Badai is efficient in protection of traditional culture and ecological nature.Meanwhile, the belief in Badai has disadvantages as well as advantages. It is necessary to lead and transform the traditional belief of Badai selectively combining with modern ecological ethics rule and inherent requirements of religious culture. Then, the belief in Badai can gain new vitality and energy in the new history era.
