Explore The Art Of Badai Paper Cuts In Xiangxi Miao Race

In this thesis, there are variety of research techniques that are used, including field research, documentary research, interviews, individual comparison, and multi subject cross examination method. The purpose for this research is subdivided in to three parts; firstly we will explore the formation of Xiangxi Badai paper cuts, secondly we will analyze the unique features of Badai paper cuts, and lastly we will track the history and cultural meanings behind these paper cuts symbols. And in the outcomes from this research, the author separates the concept of the Badai paper cuts and the Xiangxi Miao paper cuts, and obtained a large amount of firsthand information through field research and documentary. The interviews with the inheritance also supported the Miao Badai paper cuts and the Miao paper cuts are not the same, and the difference is outlined in this thesis. In addition, the author made some in depth research, analyzed the creation and the timeline of Badai paper cuts, and categorized the paper cuts through the contents. Within this thesis, the main component will includes the unique feature, the color, the patterns and the meanings of the paper cuts. In general, the Xiangxi Miao Badai paper cuts contains large amount of patterns for different purposed through generations, by pay attention to them will enable us to understand the art of Xiangxi Miao race at an integrated level.
