Instrument art has it's own inherent development law and structure.The creation,performance and appreciation all are the results of human brain processing.So Instrument art exists attached to people who have their own physiologic attribute art,and more important his cultural attribute.It's not only a research on the ontology of Instrument art but the people.Physiologic attribute of people depends on a group that deserved to pay attention to research the art deeply.With the emergence of Art Ethnology since 20 th century,more and more scholars have made researches on ontology of art,delved into the culture and community research behind art.In Shanjiang area of Fenghuang,there is a mysterial religion ritual originated from primitive society(Badai ritual).Through constant adjustment and elimination,Miao have formed a animistic ritual--Badai Miao Ritual to adapt tothe particular natural and cultural environment.This ritual mixes animism,Confucianism,Buddhism and Taoism together,and research on its Instrument art is even an uncultivated land in academic.Without written form of its language,Miao people had survived and multiplied under various oppression,which is closely relative to Miao's fine culture.Miao Culture transmitted largely by religious ritual,while Instrument art as a significant part of ritual,played an important role.Therefore,the paper chooses instrument art in Shanjiang of Fenghuang as the subject.To make this research,the author learned Art Ethnology Theory and carried on system combing with the discussion for correlative literatures from 2014 to 2017,the author made a lot of field researches on cultural customs especially Badai ritual in Shanjiang area.The paper adopts relative theory to explore and analyze the ontology,function and cultural connotation of Instrument art in Badai ritual,based on the field research materials.However,the whole research results are still poor,especially some artistic forms in minorty nationality regions in Shanjiang area of Fenghuang.There is a mysterial religion ritual originated from primitive society.(Badai ritual).This paper is devided into four charpters.Beforethe body it mainly introduces the background and significance of the subject.The present thesis will illustrate thesis contents and research strategy.This paper is devided into 5 parts.The first part is introduction.It mainly introduces the background and significance of the subject contents and research strategy of the thesis,sorting out relative researches.Chapter one is a general description of history,geography,music and religions of Shanjiang Miao area.Chapter two is the discussion of Badai Miao and Badai Han.Chapter three includes two parts.The first part introduces types and forms of Instrument art in Badai ritual.The second part analyzes the playing method andmelody ofInstrument art.Chapter four mainly reveals the religional and social functions of Instrument art in Badai ritual.
