Report On Selected Translation Of Japanese Culture And Behavior

This is a translation project report on Japanese Culture and Behavior. It is an inspirational book written by Take Sugiyama Lebra and William P. Lebra, both of which are professors of anthropology at the university of Hawaii. This book is about Japanese culture. The primary author of this book is a Japanese American, who is extremely familiar with Japanese culture and behavior. In this book she gives us a clear analysis of Japanese cultural phenomena and thinking pattern.The main contents of this translation project report are divided into four main parts:Part One is the introduction of the background of the translation project, including project significance, project origin and structure of the report. Part Two is introduction of translation process. Part Three is the case analysis in which the author has summarized some difficulities about translation and different methods to settle them under the direction of Nida’s "Functional Equivalence Theory" and translation strategies. Translation skills are discussed at lexical, syntactical and textual levels. Part Four concludes with the lessons, enlightenment and unsolved problems in the translation project. Among these parts, the key part goes to Part Three.
